It's a property of Otter Media which is a joint venture between AT&T and some investment firm called the Chernin Group. The company also owns Rooster Teeth (a YouTube MCN - more on this in a moment) and Crunchyroll, which cut its teeth bringing Japanese manga to U.S. stream. So if Go90 is Verizon's streaming service, then VRV is AT&T's streaming service.
I have a problem with "Multi-Channel Networks" (MCNs) because they seem deeply concerned about getting their brand out there rather than their product (i.e. The shows). I talked to a lot of people at Vidcon about MCNs. AwesomenessTV is another MCN that makes a big splash at Vidcon. But no one I spoke to could tell me a single show they did.
We don't care about AMC. We care about The Walking Dead. We don't care about HBO. We care about Game of Thrones. In short, the day of the network is dead, and trying to recreate it on YouTube is pointless. Surely, a single company can produce many shows. But we don't care who that company is.
