since construction in the building ended they haven't been as constant. but years of them going off virtually every single day

pretty much immunize you against them.
And, as i mentioned there actually WAS a small fire downstairs a few weeks ago and... they didn't go off.
so, yeah, i have zero faith in our alarm system.
