I used that example because it happened and after testing the food was kept from the market.

I'm not saying that I'm against advancement or progress where we can make the crops more resistant to pests and other issues. I'm also fine with making them more nutritional which would be a big boost in countries that are lacking quality food.
My concern is whether there has been enough testing to know that what we're ingesting is safe.
