The one trip to the dog park did not go well - but that was my fault, not the dog's. Now I know how to handle situations, do things differently.

I was sitting on the ground, letting other dogs come up to me - Murphy didn't want to be there in the first place and I basically dragged him out to sit with me. He saw the dogs coming up to me and went into "Protect Mode".

Now I stick to bringing him places like PetSmart, and while he's not entirely comfortable being there, he's very well-behaved and nice to the other dogs/people.
