I'm not doubting his conviction as an individual. I also see he hasn't been mayor long, so...

...removing that statue is something he clearly set to doing early in his political career. Maybe he even campaigned on it.
But the fact is that statue is still there decades (and depending when it went up over a century) after it should've been brought down.
