Speaking of cats...

My little girl, Jennifer, finally reached the end of the line. Some of you may remember I posted a couple of months ago about her issue. The vets didn't think she'd be alive by the end of June. She proved them wrong by being strong enough to endure 3 drainings of the fluid in her abdomen. Unfortunately, she lost almost all her muscle mass over the past 3 months and at the end was literally a bag of bones with a bulge in the middle from the fluids backing up again. She kept to her routine, knew when it was time for treats, was waiting for me in the bathroom when she knew I'd be there, and wanted to eat. But over the past few days she couldn't/wouldn't eat as much. She began to stumble when she walked and had trouble jumping on my bed (even with the ledge of the baseboard). When I held her she gave off a tremendous amount of heat and barely purred. Then there would be times when she seemed OK. I realized it was time when her head started shaking when lifted it. She went very peacefully and will be buried at the farm of one of the vets. That land is in a trust so it will never be disturbed. I miss her.
