Most common cause. Mine actually says something like "get maintenance soon"

Thing is, I last filled up in Barstow over a week ago, drove about 100 miles home, and have driven around town since. Light came on today half way to San Juan Capistrano. I checked when I got there and the cap was laying loose inside the filler door.
