For a convention I wasn't super hyped about, it actually turned out to be a pretty cool weekend.

I mean, I'm exhausted, but it was a lot of fun.
Cary Elwes was just awesome, from the stories he shared at his Q&A (Andre The Giant's 16 second fart, and his shopping trip with Bill Paxton when he arrived in Oklahoma to shoot Twister, etc), to the way he seemed to have a genuine affection for his fans (he got off the dais when a very nervous young girl was asking him a question and gave her a hug to calm her down, and remembered several of people that were asking him questions who had gone through his autograph line earlier, just remembering and remarking on things that they had told him about themselves. And, of course, our own interaction with him when we went through his autograph line; it actually moved kind of slow, but that's because he was actually spending a few minutes to talk to each party that went through his line; his table was curtained off, so when you went back to meet him they were just letting on party back at a time, so it was like you were getting a private audience with him. And he wasn't behind the table, either, he was right out in front shaking hands with everyone (and giving fist bumps to the kids) that came back there (which is probably why he was wearing gloves). Just really impressed with how personable he was. And, that he seemed genuinely honored that we named Despereaux after his Psych character.
The only other celebrity we met today was Ray Parks (Darth Maul, Toad, Snake Eyes). He was pretty cool, too. He was doing some of his Darth Maul moves for the kids. He's the real deal.
And then we pretty much walked the floor and loaded up on artwork, Funko Pops, and goodies for the kids. Oh, and then we saw Peter Capaldi out on the convention floor talking to Michael Golden (comic artist), and humoring the mini-frenzy of amateur paparrizi (myself, included) that were all snapping photos of him.
So yeah, we had a blast, and will be adding it to our convention rotation.
