People here seem to disagree but batteries don't last nearly as long as the devices I have or as long as advertised.

I see them degrade within a year on most of my phones. Right now I can easily buy a new one and just toss it in but that seems to be ending for a ridiculous reason.
I had a perfectly good laptop that had a bad battery. It worked well for a few years but it wasn't keep a charge anymore. One new battery later and the laptop was perfectly fine for a few more years. But without that ability people are either going to pay more than they should to replace it or they'll be forced to buy a new one.
I'm quite unhappy with how locked down everything is getting.
