As for the bugout kit, we have a tub of supplies, so I'd bring that plus some clothes, cats, external HDs, laptops, chargers, rPi with camera project

Depending on how bad shit is, it might be useful to have a security camera, that's why the Pi. :)
And ... there's a photo album or two.
And fishing/camping gear. Sure, why not.
