We just updated our estate planning and had to consider all this stuff. We had to nominate "health" people and "money" people to make decisions

for us if we can't and laid out how we'd like things handled.
It may not feel this way for everyone, but I felt a great deal of satisfaction in knowing it's all in writing and that my choices for caretakers are known, even if they decline to accept the responsibility when the time comes*
*They all agreed up front to being named, but we all understand that circumstances can change.
