this isn't particularly surprising. resource booms skew things, AB has lower taxes (though it's unclear if that factors here).

growth in Alberta has been generally outpacing the rest of the country for a while (last oil blip notwithstanding), and there are probably more corporate HQs in Calgary than anywhere but Toronto (as in: it punches above its weight in that respect).
