I want to talk about the consequences of Roy Price's departure from Amazon Studios.

I don't think we can really separate what the executive did from the impact on the company, any more than we can do this for Weinstein Co. or even Miramax. But the companies must move on.
I wonder what Disney will do with the Miramax brand. TWC is going to be sold and dismember. And Amazon..?
Reportedly, Bezos was unhappy that Amazon Studios wasn't gaining any traction. I posted a few days ago about how I felt they weren't getting their brand out there when it comes to streaming. I would suggest that the next step for Amazon here is going to be pretty big.
Regardless of who the next executive is, you can be sure that it won't be business as usual. A new chief means changes. In this case, I suggest mergers and acquisitions. Long term, we know we're not going to have so many streaming services out there. David's down on Netflix's future prospects (me, not so much, but the future is cloudy, check again later...) I think either Netflix or Hulu gets bought by Amazon. That's Amazon's next move. And getting Roy Price out of the way makes this easier. If the backlash over Price grows (as is documented, there were reports about Price months ago and nothing was done), then the only real option for Amazon will be to buy themselves some prestige.
