There is something pretty damn deep in the depiction of Chidi joyfully discussing the Trolley Problem as an abstract and then being completely horrified by it in practice.
The way Chidi holds the world at arm's length through his dedication to ethics in the abstract is amazingly well conveyed by the writers and the actor.
