Excel/Google spreadsheets function help

Columns A and B:

1 United Kingdom
2 United Kingdom
3 France
4 United States
5 Italy
6 United States
7 France
8 Australia
9 France
10 United States
11 United Kingdom
12 Germany

I want to get columns C, D, and E to show me the list of unique country names with the Min value for each from A and the total instances for each country:
1 United Kingdom 3
3 France 2
4 United States 3
5 Italy 1

I think I'm looking for UNIQUE and COUNTIF and DMIN, yes?

in google sheets, I would make a pivot table to show count (they refresh automatically). in excel, I would use google sheets. -- nm - amanda jones state university Nov 1, 06:08 1
- yeah, I ended up using a pivot table but it forces a particular format on a separate tab, and I'd rather have it all on the same screen. -- nm - Max Nov 1, 08:23
