Local news story about the local reaction to the War of the Worlds radio broadcast.

while most of the reactions of people arming themselves to fight off the alien invaction were in the east coast where the story was supposed to be happening, in the little town of Cement WA got deep into it because...just as the story was telling of the army preparing for the attack, a HUGE explosion was heard, the power plant in town blew up, coincidental but freaky, the power went out, the radios went out and quite a lot of the town lost their shit. armed bands of men roamed the streets, women and children gathered in churches and other shelters.

one of the reasons the story blew up so much critical complaints....newspapers were losing ad revenue to radio broadcasts, radio was getting news out faster. print was fighting back and used this FAKE NEWS, the first time tht was used, as a means to make people aware you can't automatically trust everything you hear.
