As autonomous cars become more common, speed limits in certain situations may become less necessary.

Also consider that some states actually have laws forbidding municipalities from ticketing for speed below 10+. -- nm

speed limits are a revenue stream for local municipalities - until manual driving is gone, they will always be there -- nm
