Doing the raid might help, but there's no guarantee.

Even just doing the first part (which shouldn't be too hard for 5 people and possible with 4) gets an engram that should drop at 300 for you.
Did you claim all the clan engrams from Hawthorne with your Warlock? Doing the Nightfall with one other clan member should result in at least 3 pieces of 300 gear, I think. I think the NF reward is an engram that would be 300 for you. Then you get the 300 reward from Zavala. Then the Hawthorne clan reward for the NF.
