It’s difficult. My lenses don’t have an easy-to-hit infinity focus point (I don’t know if that would even help). If it’s just a blob, though...

... and with zero evidence of detail ... then you’re overexposed. I used to think that long exposures were the way to shoot the moon, but I’ve come to realize that requires special equipment. For consumer stuff, without extra lens filters, you actually need a shorter exposure and a tighter aperture.
Otherwise the reflection of the sun’s light is enough to blind the sensor.
