It should work if you have a manual exposure mode, in which you dial in the aperture and shutter speed separately. -- (link)

I do have manual mode. I don't think my f-stop goes that high though. I'll see what I can figure out though. -- nm

But if your camera is a true point-and-shoot with just a bunch of scene modes to choose from, you won’t have much luck shooting the moon. -- nm
