I've had to have conversations with myself about why eating of some animals is worse than others (this from someone who was a vegetarian for many years before adding back some seafood and poultry) - like why is cow more acceptable than horse, sheep vs. dogs. not just me, but for the cats that live with me because, in addition to 3 of 4 not being able to have grains, I discovered one can't have poultry (makes yoda a snotty girl) and kitties shouldn't have a lot of fish. there just aren't decent beef (or pork for that matter options), but there is venison and rabbit. it's been a tough go - bambi lost for winning, and venison kibble is in the rotation.
with all that, the festival is really bad in ways beyond just that dogs are eaten. I don't recommend searching about it, because freaking humans freaking suck; and it will freaking break your freaking heart and make you mad, and nobody needs that going into a weekend.
