Ok. Can someone summarize what I’m looking for in a new tv?

Long story short, I get a technology supplement in my pay. One of the things that qualifies is flat screen TVs since they are essentially computer monitors.

My current tv is about 10 years old so it’s probably time to replace it. For my room, it should probably not be any bigger than 54”.

Figured with Black Friday deals there may be something worth picking up. Budget around $1000.

So what am i looking for?
