I think you should always compare movies to one another; especially similar movies.

My issue with DC isn't that they make 'serious' movies, it's that they make 'serious' movies badly.

The best comic movie ever a DC property done by a guy who got the character and got how to make a 'serious' movie well. (TDK)

Zack Snyder has never been a good director with script or plot or actual performances. He's a guy you hire to make things look cool.

And somehow, he has failed miserably in this case; as every DCEU move has that same "dark carnage at night" vibe that looks terrible on film. That's ignoring the terrible performances (Jesse Eisenberg notably), awful plotting, and general absurdity.

Marvel has created 1 universe that has been awesome in like 5 different visual ways. Most are coherent, all have a unique style and each benefits their world. It's tough, but DCEU doesn't have anyone as talented as any of Joss Whedon, Favreau, the Russos, or the Gunns.

Given the 2 people they have had with any talent, (JJ & Patty Jenkins), they shouldn't be as hamstrung by Snyder's vision.
