We're actually doing relatively well with his training. The problem isn't that as much as having to structure every day around him. -- (edited)

When he's training, he's very good. He's learned a lot and is very trainable. But if you're not actively training him, he's a handful. He needs constant attention when he's not in his crate. And if he is in his crate and you're around, he's barking because he wants to come out.
