In response to ""I can't believe a single Bitcoin is worth about $5,000 now." -- The Big Bang Theory's new episode that started three minutes ago. -- nm" by David

I don't think it's necessarily about to crash tomorrow, but I do think the growth is unsustainable over the long term.

I don't see a fundamental reason bitcoin should be a trillion dollar market. I mean, that basically assumes there's going to be more bitcoin in circulation than US currency. and like I said before, until its value stabilises and they improve the transaction rates, it's useless as a currency.

I'll agree that ICOs and smart contracts are in some cases being used for potentially interesting and novel things, but for the most part they're garbage that puts all the risk on the investors and gives them very limited upside, and really no claims on the company. they're largely end-runs around securities regulations.

so sure, invest in bitcoin if you have an appetite for risk, but it'd be foolish to put a substantial portion of your worth there. invest in ICOs, but be *very* selective about which ones you pick.

anyway, if you're just staring to invest in bitcoin now, you've already missed the best part of it, even by the most optimistic projections.
