My biggest frustration with Google right now is that Google Home won't play the songs I *OWN* because I *must* have a Google Play Music subscription.

That's B.S. So I have to open the app on my phone, find the song, and then connect to Google Home. But that's the same whether you have Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Whether it's Googe Play Music, Amazon Music, or Spotify. You can't play your own music unless you subscribe. How did we get here?
