But nothing will ever be 100% efficient. Private institutions are no better. I know our office isn't.

We order too much food. We spend money on things for our employees to improve morale. We subsidize the costs of our coke machines. The list could go on. It's just that government gets the scrutiny and every anecdotal piece of information is treated as if it is a rampant problem. The broader scope of viewing it with perspective is much, much less damning.
