The film is told from her perspective--Needed to see alternate versions of events at the end.

Maybe she killed Spyglass, after all, or maybe he's still alive--Maybe she killed the French spy.

I guess they had to keep her "good" for the double twist at the end, but everything didn't add-up, and they never addressed the stuff that didn't.
