I agree, I just don't think the forums were as easily available. So the result was more balanced information that people saw. On a personal level

people probably tended to hang with people that mostly shared their ideas, but they were more confronted with other viewpoints in print and on tv. Fox and then others gave them a place where they never needed to leave the bubble.
