Actually I think this behavior is much more limited on ST than other places.

Here we actually debate different positions (well, you usually just throw stuff out there and then pretend it was somebody else's idea and not yours, but most people debate these things). Open debate doesn't mean you necessarily convince someone else you're right. But it still does elucidate the issues and I often learn stuff (both that confirm my ideas or give me something else to consider). While many of us hold similar ideas that you don't share so I can understand why it might seem like a self-affirming place, there is clearly debate and disagreement on many issues here (even among people who often agree). Since you're in the minority you may feel ganged up on, but people respond to actual ideas and arguments with actual ideas and arguments. Snide comments and trolling remarks and articles don't get the same courtesy.
