totally re: the "special" ones. there have been other republican resignations periodically over the years.

a bunch of state folks, including a few in recent months*, for harassment-type issues; but also some DCers - tim murphy a couple of months ago (he's the guy who asked his mistress to have an abortion) may be the most recent. I don't think his was harassment, but it was in the general keep-it-in-your-pants arena.
*I'd bet there will be more ahead in california, after the revelation of a lot of $ in payoffs.
