The Steinbrenner kids aren't as willing to do that as dear old dad was. They've worked for the last three years to get under the luxury tax.

They are happy to spend money on the team but this would lessen their ability to bring in other pieces that they need like pitching.
The current Yankees front office and management is not as willing to just throw money around.
