It was absolutely ridiculous. A writer's conceit.

Send in the tie fighters. They'd just shown *three* tie fighters take out the hangar and the bridge. Send three more to finish it. Send some ships to warp in front of it.

And as cool as the kamikaze warp jump was, why wouldn't this be standard operating procedure? Send a droid in a barge to warp through their star destroyers.
