He was really excited about it until we told him he would have to wear a helmet. He stubbornly refused the helmet, so we told him "No helmet, no bike."

And damned if he didn't look us straight in the eyes and say: "That's fine. I don't need the bike." AND HE NEVER GAVE IN.

We eventually gave the bike to his cousin and shuddered at this horrifying preview of his teenage years.
