I get it. The point is that it's difficult to compare people from the two markets as the same.

To say that someone that lives in Ohio and makes 45k a year and someone that lives in LA and makes 145k are in the same group is difficult.
I get that relative to their surroundings, it's similar, but it still isn't the same, because they aren't always in their surroundings.
For example, each of those people could price out a $1000 vacation, and to one, it's very reasonable and to the other, it represents a significant cost. The vacation costs the same for both, even though their rent/mortgages will be different.
