that was just one example; and the store, as with most liquor stores here, sell beyond booze. other businesses, most of them small, have seen losses.

in the case of the town I mentioned, not just from through traffic stopping for whatever; but it also created a deterrent for people who had seen it as a destination for restaurants and boutiques and such.

not a 1:1 comparison, but the precedent of closing off general public access in any kind of ongoing way is disturbing to me. it's not closing off a street for a few days for a festival.
