on your last point, arguably prime is better than going to the store.

shipping vs keeping a store, trucks, supply chain, etc all up and running. all products get shipped, it's just the "how" that matters.
amazon's shipping algorithm is incredible.. they do some pretty cool stuff to make sure they're at peak efficiency.
