Here's the best write-up on it. Driver was using AP, car in front changed lanes to avoid truck, driver of Tesla either wasn't

paying attention or failed to react and hit truck.

AP in its current state (level 2 autonomy) REQUIRES an attentive driver. AP cannot do much beyond maintain lane position and follow distance. The anti-collision tech may have hit the brakes, but that is usually only enough to lessen the impact, not avoid it if travelling at highway speeds.
