oh, huh, they updated the linked page to have video. the pruning they did will actually help the tree be healthier/live longer.

it also makes me have another question - I first thought it was with other trees, thus the non-detection; but apart like that is really odd, even if there was more foliage. it's a sitting tree - sit back against the trunk and look up; and, apparently, watch for possibly flying dirty fish water. ;p
