Did you install the right version of Google Play Services?

You have to install an old version for the Fires. I made this mistake the last time.
I don't want to google this at work but there is somethng that needs to be reset occasionally but I don't remember the specfic setting. Search for Gmail app crashing on Fire HD and it should show you.
