Great products fail due to lack of marketing or even understanding. Other products, oftentimes inferior ones, succeed in the same climate.
The smartphone is a great example. The Galaxy has had better reviews for three or four straight generations yet people pay more for the Apple brand. Is the Apple intrinsically better? No. The value is in the perception. In fact, the OnePlus can do virtually the same things at half the price. Why isn't it held in higher esteem? These are the kinds of questions with no good answers.
