This guy's thesis is that 25% of viewers just cut the cord last year -- doubtful.

it's more that the movies haven't impacted people at all in a few years.
2010 -- aka, Avatar vs Hurt Locker with Blind Side in the (distant) mix.
2014 -- Gravity, a large hit.
The last few years, there's been a dearth of well-regarded hit movies in the mix.
If anything, I'd expect Black Panther to be in the mix next year mainly because Oscar needs a hit.
