All politicians need talking points - they have too much information coming in, and it's a basic way to focus on the key messages.

What they don't need talking points for is messages like "I hear you", but that's because they're practiced in making sure the people they meet with feel they are heard - while Trump, who's been CEO for a lifetime and is more used to being listened to, doesn't have those habits.
