LENS FLAIR: THE MOVIE. I really really got tired of bright shiny lights being put in my face all the time. I'm not a fan of the cinematic style either. While not -as- horrid as Cloverfield, it was frustrating for me.
Bones, Kirk, Scotty were the only characters I felt were really good representations. The rest were caricatures of their past identities. I couldn't believe how self-indulgent Spock was. Highly illogical.
The plot (Time Travel) was as tired as it's ever been. But the other plot (Kirk + Crew coming together) was actually pretty decent.
I really really liked updates on the ships, warp drive, phasers, beaming, etc. That's some sick ass shit right there!
Essentially: If this was a new Star Trek series where the people were representing new characters, I'd probably would appreciate it a bit more. But as new cannon, I'm not very pleased.
I know I'm in the super minority, though, so enjoy your new franchise and lease on life Star Trek. Hopefully you'll re-mature and give me something with more meat and Roddenberry vision.
