Not quite as sneakers haven't had a crash in value and the sneaker culture shows no signs of waning.

Just yesterday there was a clothing drop at Supreme that sold out in minutes. Sneakers and streetwear are still very popular. Kids are still lining up for hours to get new sneakers and are selling and trading them more than ever.
Adidas wasn't really much of anything until about five years ago and now they're huge with their Boost sneakers and those ugly ass Kanye Yeezy sneakers.
Beanie Babies may not be the best analogy. :-)
