You can either keep them 6 or 7 seasons -- why would you not want to keep him 7?

Or at least be able to offer a 7th season of control to whatever team you decide to trade him to once it's a sure thing he won't re-sign?

Let's see...I can trade him with 1.5 years left so I get him for 4.5 or 5.5...which is better? Hrrmmmm...
