We were eating breakfast, and it was so casual. I was like "Wait, what!?" Apparently father was married beforehand to a woman he'd known for a few years. She had cancer, and father has said that he knew going into the marriage he couldn't have kids with her. She passed away a few years before he met my mother. As a family we visit my grandparents graves every now and then, and back in HS years it was all major holidays since my grandmother was alive. I've never been to hers.

We have literally spoken about it that one time, and that is it. Never again even mentioned.
