"book a hotel for 20 years" ... I wonder how much principal you'd need to be able to book a hotel room for 20 years on interest alone.

Keeping in mind that inflation would cause the room rates to rise, and the rate payments could prevent the compounding of interest.
This is a silly question. Never mind.
Responses:
$100k/yr covers $250+ per night. 100k/.02 in CD interest needs 5 million in principal, but $2m should cover 20yrs if you spend it all. -- nm*

What fancy hotel are you staying in at $250/night?

how much would need to keep growing principle to keep up with inflation...20 years you'd probably need 1000 a night -- nm

Growing your principal faster than the likely inflation rate for hotels sounds like a challenge. -- nm
