you're right because I never go looking for great examples, even though we have several wonderful French bakeries here in town. Whatever French bread I eat is usually in a bread basket in a restaurant. My go to breads for sandwiches are sourdough & rye. Whenever I go to one of the French bakeries, I leave without bread. BUT I do have a lot of wonderful pastry to last a few weeks.
