No they couldn't. The show is completely different in tone, style, pacing, etc than any of the movies.

And by the time the new fall season starts, the movie will have been out of theaters for a couple months and forgotten by the public's short attention span and wouldn't help the show's success much at all.

Going to see a movie is one thing, committing to watch a episodic TV every week is another.
